Let's remember who ruled what are now Arab states for so many centuries. Those who cannot remember the past are forced to repeat it, as they say, and I have noticed a distinct penchant for totally disregarding the past, on the part of most Arabs.

Besides, the Turks have two things in their national character that the Arab national character lacks: persistence and determination.

Oh, yeah, Turks are also much better fighters.Mizgînhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01850990661771197094noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19312979.post-1139507751482985422006-02-09T09:55:00.000-08:002006-02-09T09:55:00.000-08:00Life is a trivial matter when faced with the etern...Life is a trivial matter when faced with the eternal greatness of Islam. Did you not get the memo?

from before...

Turkey is in an excellent position to coordinate the Islamic street, since it holds the secretary-generalship of the OIC.

This is quite a stretch. Turkey as a government has no pull on the Arab states with respect to religion--the OIC is just something to put on your resume, a gambit for bridge-building and all that--and the Arab states may think a Turkish face might mellow the diplomatic atmosphere. As for Muslim brotherhood, I think you would have been hard pressed to find many in the mid-east rooting for us in the World Cup, for reasons relating to empire. I think Arab states would consider to take Turkey as an example only when they realize that the West is not going to leave them alone, and not because they value Turkish advice.Litmushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10910729803556824080noreply@blogger.com
