I TOLD YOU SO

"The four most beautiful words in our common language: I told you so." ~ Gore Vidal.

I always enjoy the satisfied feeling I get when I can say, "I told you so." From The New York Times, a little discussion about the influence of an Islamic conference in Mecca, in December, 2005, and the prophet cartoons (if you get one of those annoying registration pages on the NYT link, try BugMeNot.com ) :

The meeting in Mecca, a Saudi city from which non-Muslims are barred, drew minimal international press coverage even though such leaders as President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad of Iran were in attendance. But on the road from quiet outrage in a small Muslim community in northern Europe to a set of international brush fires, the summit meeting of the Organization of the Islamic Conference — and the role its member governments played in the outrage — was something of a turning point.

After that meeting, anger at the Danish caricatures, especially at an official government level, became more public. In some countries, like Syria and Iran, that meant heavy press coverage in official news media and virtual government approval of demonstrations that ended with Danish embassies in flames.

In recent days, some governments in Muslim countries have tried to calm the rage, worried by the increasing level of violence and deaths in some cases.

But the pressure began building as early as October, when Danish Islamists were lobbying Arab ambassadors and Arab ambassadors lobbied Arab governments.

"It was no big deal until the Islamic conference when the O.I.C. took a stance against it," said Muhammad el-Sayed Said, deputy director of the Ahram Center for Political and Strategic Studies in Cairo.

And this:

The group put together a 43-page dossier, including the offending cartoons and three more shocking images that had been sent to Danish Muslims who had spoken out against the Jyllands-Posten cartoons.

Mr. Akkari denied that the three other offending images had contributed to the violent reaction, saying the images, received in the mail by Muslims who had complained about the cartoons, were included to show the response that Muslims got when they spoke out in Denmark.

Yeah, right. Mr. Akkari is clearly an idiot if he expects us to believe that only three other cartoons were included or that they did not contribute to the violent reaction, especially after this, with a link to the original photos and story behind them:

Akhmad Akkari, spokesman of the tour, explained that the three drawings had been added to “give an insight in how hateful the atmosphere in Denmark is towards Muslims.”

Akkari claimed he does not know the origin of the three pictures. He said they had been sent anonymously to Danish Muslims. However, when Danish newspaper Ekstra Bladet asked if it could talk to these Muslims, Akkari refused to reveal their identity. BBC World aired a story on 1-30-2006 showing the three non-published images and claimed they had been published in Denmarks Jyllands-Posten, these images however had never been published in Jyllands-Posten.

I wonder how much Ihsanoglu paid Akkari to lie like this? I wonder how much Ihsanoglu paid the BBC to lie like that?

I already documented the other cartoon fact in a previous post --don't forget this --and have repeatedly questioned the OIC's role in the cartoon jihad. Who is it that's the secretary-general of the OIC? Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu. Where do Mr. Ihsanoglu's loyalties lie? Fethullah Gulen. What is Mr. Gulen's agenda? Turkish Islamism. Is it Kurd-friendly? NO. Who else is part of the Gulen gang? Those fun guys at the AKP. Am I getting through to you?

By the way, thanks Aine. And to my old heval, remember: There is nothing so vastly underrated as HUMINT. Sipas!

So . . .to everyone else, feeling bad that you got suckered into a lie? Have your religious sensitivities been so used by others lately that you are feeling morally wasted and emotionally bankrupt? Not to worry, Mizgîn is looking out for you and I have a piece of advice: BUY DANISH.

Not only will you feel better but you will also support the one and only government that has so far defended the right to free expression, as well as has defended the Kurdish right to free expression, Roj TV.

Mizgin, reading about these Danish Imams drenching Islamist fires with phony-cartoon gasoline, I am reminded of a famous illustration of Dante's Divine Comedy (Inferno), by Gustave Dore'--it is "Mahomet," a naked soul in Hell in a long line of naked souls, his stomach cut open and guts spilling out, and a devil swinging a long sword behind them...Do you know what the crimes-in-life the Prophet was being punished for?

He was a "SOWER OF DISCORD."

Hmmmmmmmmm...Whatta surprise these Danish imams are spreading lies to inspire violence, arson, and terror...

Danish imams won't be the only ones.

It is amazing to me that the Islamic world can be stirred up by such a non-event, as the cartoons really were, and ignore the Muslim-on-Muslim brutality that is a daily occurrence.

Then there is Muslim-on-everyone-else brutality that is never condemned, let alone condemned with the vigor with which the cartoons have been condemned.

But we all know that this non-event is really a political tool. Only a total idiot would think otherwise.
